Dear Friend

I am delighted to have this opportunity to introduce you to Grace Community Baptist Church. Moreover, we would love for you to be a regular part of what God is doing here at Grace Community.  To help you get to know us, this website should serve as an orientation to our church with the desire that you be drawn into our fellowship.  Let me quickly tell you about us.  Our name—Grace Community Baptist Church—will best tell you who we are.

Grace. We here at GCBC love that term “grace”. Grace is defined as His “unearned and unmerited favor”. Everything in the Christian’s life revolves around what God through Christ has given to us. All that we are and ever hope to be is by His grace. Someone has said that G.R.A.C.E. is “God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense”. Man can never earn or merit the grace of God. You or I could never do enough good works to merit His favor. Never. That is why we say that all that we are and ever hope to be is by His grace. God’s grace comes in the person of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is our Savior, our Redeemer, our everything!  We are a group of people who have believed upon Christ, love Christ, follow Christ, obey Christ, and serve Christ.  This describes who we are—we are all about Christ!

Community. “Community” means “a sharing in common” and describes our common life together in Christ. As a church family, we hold in common our Lord Jesus Christ. His spiritual life pulsates through our body.  His truth and love knits our hearts together. Despite our many differences of family background, education, business, and social standing, we are one in Christ.

Baptist. This term defines our theological and historical distinctive. We are Baptists by conviction, a people who stand in a great line of people who have gone before us. This godly line can be traced back to the English Reformation of the sixteenth century. As with our forefathers, we believe in the full inspiration and authority of Scripture, salvation by grace alone,  the baptism of believers only by immersion, the priesthood of believers, the eternal security of the redeemed, and more. These God-exalting truths mark our identity.

Church also describes who we are.  This word—church—means,“the called out ones.” Accordingly, we are those who have been called out of darkness by the power of God into the light of His kingdom. We have been drawn by the Spirit into fellowship with Christ. We are in the world, but no longer of the world. We are the church—the  called out ones.

Grace Community Baptist Church—this is our name.  But it is more than merely a name. We are a congregation who have been redeemed by Christ, who support one another in loving fellowship, who hold to historic Baptist tenants, and who are called out of the world to be the church of God.

Is this the kind of church of which you want to be a part?  Please pray about this being your church home.
